Issue:

Alright I made a campaign a few weeks ago hoping to get people behind a Buffy movie.  I have been very pleased with the amount of new members and their comments.  In thinking about a possible new movie one question keeps coming up.  Should Buffy ultimately end up with Angel or Spike?

Belief:

I believe that if they do make a Whedonverse movie to tie up the loose ends of the plots of Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that Buffy should choose once and for all which vampire she loves the most.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with this love triangle here is the most objective synopsis I can give.  Angel was Buffy’s first love.  He was her guide and protector in Sunny Dale until they had sex and he lost his soul turning into the evil Angelus.  Then he tormented her for a season until he got his soul back just before she had to send him too hell.  He, of course, got out of hell but had to bail because he got his own series set in Los Angeles.  In one of the early episodes of Angel he gets some demon blood in a cut on his hand and is turned human.  Buffy happens to be in Los Angeles at the time and it looks like they can now be together because his curse is truly lifted.  Unfortunately, he is a champion that knows his job is not yet complete so he goes to an oracle that reverses time and Buffy has no knowledge of the one amazing day they had together.   In one of the final episodes of Buffy she does insinuate that they could be together someday.

Spike arrived on the scene in the season two premiere of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  He looks and talks like Billy Idol and has very heavy influence from Luke Perry’s character, Pike, in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie starring Kristi Swanson.  His character was actually on the show much longer than Angel’s though evil for much longer.  In season 4 the military puts a chip in his head that shocks him if he tries to hurt humans.  He then discovers he can hurt Demons and becomes a pseudo good guy at the same time falling in love with Buffy even though he kind hates her too.  At the end of season six he goes to some sort of demon shaman and goes through trials and torture to get his soul back.  He and Buffy also had tons of sex because Spike was all about her and she was kind of tweaked out on account of the fact that she died went to heaven and was ripped back to earth by a magic spell.  But that is another story.

So Whedon tried to tie this up by having Spike and Angel go to Italy only to find that Buffy was dating some immortal guy called “the immortal.â€Â  I personally thought this was lame because you don’t see Buffy.  I think Sara Michelle Gellar had other obligations at the time.

So I think the fans should decide.  If you think Buffy should be with her first love and you still remember that song that they used to play when they were together then vote for the Vampire with a soul who helps the helpless Angel.  If you feel that Buffy and Spike’s relationship was better developed in the plot and that he was more true to her because he sought out his soul and ended up later sacrificing himself to save the world then vote for the witty British rock star Vamp William the Bloody, aka Spike.

ANGEL!

I mean, Spike was funny and all but he was just like a replacement for Angel.

Even though I don't see how Angel and Buffy can have a 'happy ever after', I think if there was a movie, it would be the best choice. I mean think about it here :- If Buffy's love interest was Angel, then there would be more conflict and a stronger plot. And I'm sure the writers could create a plot where Buffy and Angel COULD have that 'happy ever after'.

Angel was Buffy's first love. They loved each other very much and would die for each other. In my opinion this sounds an awful lot like Twilight here . When Angel and Buffy broke up and he moved away, Spike came and 'replaced' Angel. Just like what happened in New Moon. And who did Bella choose in the end? Edward.

Who should Buffy choose in the end? Angel.

I don't doubt that Spike loves her, I just doubt it was more than Angel loved her. What ever happened to Dru, Spike? I just think that Angel is more... continual with his love - more likely to love Buffy longer. Again, I'm not saying that Spike doesn't love her, I'm just saying I think Angel loves her more.

Plus O ... M ... A, Angel is soooooooooo HOTT!

xXx

Okay, I'm not one of those people who can arbitrarily decide Angel or Spike... I have watched the show since the very first airing, and have complete reasons for loving both of these characters with Buffy, which I do. So I'm basing this, instead, on logic with my romantic nature.
Angel loves Buffy. Buffy loves Angel. They have the whole star-crossed, Romeo and Juliet vibe going for them. Would they die for each other? Absolutely. Can they really give anything to each other? That's a different question, because they are both so unattainable to each other for different reasons. Because of what Angel went through when cursed with his soul, he's not someone--even if he ever did become human, the promise of which he signed away in the finale--who can make her laugh and be with her in the sunlight. His personality is too dark, too brooding. Which is one of the things she identifies with about him. She understands his darkness because it's in her, all the time, every minute. However, I don't think he understands that she carries that darkness too. But I also think that the love she feels for him, while steady and sure, is a love that was formed when she was a child, something created in her before she even knew who she was.
Now, Spike, on the other hand, knows her as none of her other lovers ever did. Not only was he with her the longest (both with a soul and without one), he's seen her nature, the good and bad of it, and he's accepted every facet of who she is. He loves her. Everyone puts huge basis on how he fought to get a soul for her (which yeah, okay, is really huge), but no one talks about the fact that Spike--demon or ensouled--is someone who knows how to *love*. When he does it, he becomes it. The charming, warm, nasty, dark, curious and strange are all dearly beloved by him. Everything we the fans have watched with him has pointed to that fact. He accepts Buffy, doesn't question his devotion to her. He wants what's best for her, and wants her to be happy. Was Angel noble in walking away from her for her own good? Yes. Was it probably the right step at that time? Of course. Has it been long enough? Yes.
Buffy loving Spike back is an entirely different matter. I think she does. I think she's finally gotten to a place inside of herself where she can reconcile the good with the bad and understand that who he was is not who he is, although both men love her with the same blind passion. I think she's grown up now.
Which is why I think Buffy should be with Spike.
Sorry, Angel fans. I still love him, though.
(Wow, that was a really long answer to a deceptively short question.lol.)

I think a buffy movie would be great!! There have been so many spin offs from the series but none actually about Buffy and I think this movie would tie up loose ends like what happened to her and dawn? and willow? and the Xander? and the rest of the gang?
I think a movie would be great thanks to all those dedicated buffy fans who watched the show for over 7 yrs :D

For real, I'm more for a new guy. Spike was a jerk! He tried to made her believe she was from the Dark Side, that "she belonged to him", to get to her pants and keep her by his side at any means. Angel seems to have moved on to Cordelia.... definitively. Buffy still talks about him, but Angel don't (but then he is a man, and as such, don't really feel that lasting love... nor did Spike for that matter... Lover's Walk, Dru? Our love was eternal?). Buffy died and Angel did not gave a **** about it. Sure, since the shows were in different networks, they could not be show together, but his first episode in season 3 should have been more brooding. Buffy was devastated when she sent him to hell (Anne). But then, I don't know. This move on thing can be strange. Back in 1996 (coincidence??), I had a relationship with a man, he was almost everything I wanted. We have a connection pretty much like Angel and Buffy (only ours was real), with the feeling-you-around, feeling-your-mood-miles-away, wake-up-shaking-because-you-KNEW-he-had- a-car-accident-IN-THAT-MOMENT, calling-me-because-he-felt-there-was-som ething-wrong-with-me... it was just magic.. I even nicknamed him angel (back then I did not know there was a show called Buffy, I live in Brazil, and when I started watching it in 2003, I got shocked in how much it looked like my relationship). Well, we messed up everything and could not be together forever. Today, after 13 years, I moved on, literally, since I moved to other city. Yeah, I found new people, but Mr 1996 is still here in my heart. A piece that nobody can touch. People tell that if my name is said around him (he is married now), he always seems suddenly thoughtful... "brooding mode" (laughing here). So, I do believe there is hope for Angel and Buffy, if she has to choose between the two vampires.

Angel!

Spike was a jerk who had a super unhealthy relationship with Buffy that was a complete mind f***. On top of that, he tried to rape Buffy! I mean, who does that? Also, Marsters is playing Piccolo now and he looks like a giant bug.

SPIKE!!
Oka, I absolutely looved the buffy and angel relationship in the first few seasons. It was romantic, made me laugh, made me cry, it was the real thing :) But it was also doomed. You can't expect Buffy to go the rest of her life without sex. Come on! It was beautiful for her younger years. But face it, she grew up! She went on to random guys, and then there was Riley. And Angel found Cordi, and then Warewolf chick! He went on to having Cordelia as the love of his life, and Buffy went on to having Spike. He always loved her. She has always been the only thing he ever thought about. He got his soul for her. Please, did you listen to the speech he gave her in season 7. She's the one for him. And she returned it by saying that she loved him. He said that she didn't mean it, but seriously, he never has been very good at understanding woman. And what else could he say that wouldn't sound full of himself? "Yes, I know you love me." Honestly, he was just being modest and you know it!
Plus, Angel and Buffy couldn't get back together. It's too hard for them to stay away from each other. And "Tall, dark and forehead" would never be able to have something Captain Peroxide had had. I know Angel had her first, but Spike had accepted that. Angel wouldn't be able to,

Heyy, plus another factor...Angel is just too Dark and Broody to have his current true love still alive. Thats why his true love has got to be Cordi. So what if she's a floaty higher being, dead, person, thing? Did that ever stop Joss?

Anyways. You all have a good taste in t.v shows.

Luvsyou. Xx. kristen

spike was way funnier lol how longs it been since buffy finished its been that long i cant remember but i never missed an episode

Spike, of course.

You listen to me. I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. Don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood... which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes. A lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred-plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of. You... Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, it's not because I want you, or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are. What you do. How you try. I've seen your kindness, and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand, with perfect clarity, exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the One, Buffy.

Only Spike could say something like that. And mean it.

Spike for sure.

"You listen to me. I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. only Spike could say (and mean) something like that.

No one truly understood Buffy like Spike did.

Spike helped Buffy through. He loved Buffy. You could see it in his eyes.

It's Spike, no question. As vampires, Angel(us) was just a rapist/torturer, w/delusions of his own self-worth. Spike? was a true bad ass; The slayer of Slayers. A real Master vampire. As heroes, Angel was next to useless, thanks to his cursed soul; When he wasn't brooding or whining... oh wait, that's all he did. Spike was always in it, once he was on board w/Buffy. Even without his soul (which he fought for - something Angelus never would've done) he was more helpful & devoted than Angel with his cursed soul. As for Buffy..? It's simple - When things got tough, Angel bailed. Spike didn't even consider leaving. (Love's Bitch to the end, after all). Who should Buffy pick? Spike, hands down.

I love them both but Angel and Buffy can never have a normal relationship becuse of the one moment of true happines deal :(. Plus even though it was great, we already saw Angel and Buffy properly together, Spike and Buffy were just starting to get really close until the amulet "Killed him". So I think development of their relationship would be good. Maybe they could keep Angel in the movie somehow though, hmmm.

this is so hard Buffy was happy with both until something went wrong for both relationships... this is not very easy

Spike
All he's-so-smokin-hot yammering aside, they really were having great sex and sex is the core of the relashionship.
Spike was more down to earth and dirrty then Angel, & while some people find it as a way to recognize Spuffy fans as just horny women who like Spike's arrogant and nasty appeal, these are exactly those qualities that keep love alive after the period of head-over-heels-romantic stage is off.
Plus it has been stated like a zillion times on Buffy that Spike would have been all hugs and kisses if she wasn't putting the wall around herself. Spike is emotional and deep even if he plays it hardcore, so, ultimately, you can't really say Angel's good and Spike's all bad. Finally, imo - Spike & Buffy had more in common.

Buffy and Angel are like, the most epic, dynamic couple together. They should be together and not she and Spike.
I mean, I loved him, but he tried to be a replacement of Angel.

spike's sexy, funny, smart, observant, and thousand times better.

Of course she should choose Spike!!!! Spike rules!!!!!!!!!! After all, Riley left so Spike is most obviously the best canditate for her!!!

GO SPIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I think Buffy and spike together and Angel and Cordie 2gether

Spike, hands down. They have such an excellent love hate relationship. Buffy and Angel together would be a given. The writers needed to inject Spike to form a triangle in order to take out the same ole same loe.....and in my opinion I loved to hate spike and looked forward to seeing him at every opportunity.

I so think that it is in Buffy's best intrest to pick Spike because he is really just a good man (vampire) in the inside even though he has a tough exterior. He really does love Buffy and it is so easy to see! Angel on the other hand in hot but to me that is all he offers!(NO OFFENCE)

This is a hard one to decide. I loved Buffy and Angel together, he always did everything he could to help her (when he was good) and he left when he knew that they wouldn't be able to refrain from sex any longer-do ya blame him? I sure don't.

Now Spike...well, he is hot ,no question bout that, and he never left Buffy 'cept to get his soul back, and that was for her, but he still hurt her.

I think Angel would be the better one for Buffy to end up with. All they'd need to do is find some cure for the curse. Another Shaman, or something ironic. Spike would do anything for her, but Buffy and Angel were just great together.

Sorry for any mixed up thoughts

Spike fought for his soul, he should get the girl! he did it for her, why not give him something in return?

Buffy should choose spike, heaps better together

buffy and angel were a great coulpe and i'd love to see them back together

I think that Buffy should end up with spike because angel and her could never really be together and she was happy w/spike.and they also looked very good together

I think that Buffy is not a good show to me.
