not now. we screwed up that country and now its a mess. Therefore we need to stay behind to clean up the mess. While I did not support going to war, we are where we are now. We cannot this vital area of the world in turmoil as exactly the wrong people would fill the power vacuume. I would us out fast, but not on any specific timetable. the war on Iraq and the war that started from September 11 are 2 different wars. We started a war with Afghanistan because of September 11. The war in Iraq was mostly just because bush wanted to. Some people have this strange and very ignorant idea that all Muslims are terrorists and radicals. This is very wrong Most are NOT that is why the few that are get called RADICALS. I personal am not justifying the for the side of the radicals but when people complain about how the enemy wont fight like men and are always hiding. This is called Guerrilla warfare It is how a small force have to fight a large force. The US used this same method during the revolutionary war. Submitted by amy w. on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 07:09

Hi, I'm Eric and I'm from Canada... we're in Afghanistan right now, and our government has just come to the concensus that our combat mission will be ending there in 2011, thank God for the fact that I don't have to go anymore... However, while I do not agree with the fact that the United States is in Iraq to begin with, I think that it should remain the US's responsibility to rebuild and truly restore democracy within Iraq. The United States should do as Canada is doing, eventually, shift from a combat mission to a humanity mission, and stay there until restructure and peace has been mainly restored. Only then can the U.S. withdraw entirely and be absolved of it's... questionable invlovement in Iraq's affairs... Submitted by Lavone B. on Sat, 03/15/2008 - 17:34
We should not leave until the job is done. The terrorist are in this country right now planning to attack us again. Thank God for President Bush for fighting these terrorists. The only one to continue this with knowledge and experience is John McCain. AMERICANS, don't forget what they have already done to us, they will try again. This is a complicated thread! I believe there to be several reasons why we should stay, and several why we should leave! Let me start with reasons why we should leave; (1) we have given the people of Iraq and Afgahnsitan more than enough time to create a decent military and protective force, (2) Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, and Sailors are sick of leaving home to fight for a condemned nation, finally (3) no matter how much we suppress terrorism, there will always be terrorist replacing those that we kill! Reasons why we should stay; (1) don't start something you don't intend to finish, (2) the citizens of Iraq are human, as a free country we have moral obligations to help out those that are suppressed, and (3) we obviously need the oil, because so many lazy ass Americans choose to drive instead of riding a bike or walking! In conclusion, each topic mentioned above can be resolved for the best, or for the worst. why does nobody think of buying their oil..? it would probably be better for both sides, end the war and ive everyone what they need Submitted by ERIC M. on Tue, 03/25/2008 - 00:02
i agree with pretty much everything you said there... I have only one objection, and that is to the statement that we have a moral obligation to help those in troubled nations... moral, maybe, but the united nations claimed that the invasion of Iraq was a violation of international sovereignty, and, just to remind everyone, the whole WMD ploy was not the original reason for invading Iraq- the Bush Administration claimed that Saddam Hussein had ties to Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban, and that removing Saddam Hussein from power and removing the supposed WMD would assist in becoming victorious in Afghanistan. We should not leave Iraq until the job is done. If we fail in this mission, terrorists like UBL an others will be emboldened and will plan larger attacks against us. Submitted by Amanda M. on Mon, 01/14/2008 - 15:20
The US should not leave Iraq until the job is done! It is our right and duty to take out Alquida. When they decided to come to US soil and start this fight they should have been prepared for the fight they now are suffering! This fight would be happening reguardless of rather we went there to have it or waited for them to come here! With the bombing of the Trade Center it was apparent the fight was heading here! Now I have one question for you. Do you want the fight here on our soil where our children are subject to war and death or there? In an ideal world, we (the US) would leave Iraq better than we found it. I don't see that as a possibility from our government. It's not clear to me why we went there nor why we're staying. I don't think we can improve the situation, so sadly I think we should cut our losses and leave before more die and more is spent. Submitted by marwa m. on Sat, 11/03/2007 - 16:09

I voted for the end of 2007. I don't think that's realistic, but I also think that until we put a stake in the ground we're never going to start moving to leave. I don't think the current administration has demonstrated the ability to improve the stuation. Loading People... |
