The Hobbit has an entirely different tone that LOTR, but Jackson did such a great job bringing the trilogy to the screen without compromising the spirit of the book, that I have no doubt he'll do a great job on the Hobbit as well. Submitted by Gandalf S. on Sun, 08/03/2008 - 22:25

I absolutely love The Hobbit and would love to see it into a movie. Personally they should have done that in the first place instead of waiting until now to think about making it. I mean it's the prelude to the others and would have made more sence to those that have not read the book exactly how Bilbo got into the cave and found the ring. PETER JACKSON IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT COULD DO THE HOBBIT JUSTICE. I RED THE WHOLE SERIES SOME 20 CLOSE TO 30 YEARS AGO AND HAVE BEEN A GREAT FAN. MY CHILDERN HAVE NOW COME TO LOVE THE LORD OF THE RINGS. THE HOBBIT WAS THE FIRST OF THE SERIES AND SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY PETER. The Hobbit is set to be released in two parts, the first Dec of 2010, and the next one following in 2011 (imdb). There is some isse with the release b/c New Line is being sold or something. I would like Peter Jackson to direct the Hobbit. But here is the big problem out of 6 billon dollars in profits only about $10,000 has been paied in royaltys to the authors family. They were suppost to get an overall percentage of the profits. They haven't got it. Peter was suppost to get an overall percentage of the profits and he didn't get that. The actors and the movie stidio got it all. That is my understanding as to why Peter is not directing The Hobbit movie, I would imagin that Torkkins family is reluctant to give over movie rights when they haven't seen the royalties from the last three books. It would be soooo stupid not to. He built this epic world and designed the middle earth that we think of when you say Lord of The Rings. No one else but Jackson. Mr. Shaye, swallow the pride, sir. The fans want the story, the characters, the presentation that only Jackson and his team bring to The Hobbit.
