Description:

The Electoral College is outdated.  The Electoral College was proposed in 1787, over 200 years ago. This system of voting is very outdated and very unfair. I agree some states with great population deserve more say. I do not agree the states with great population should grant every delegate to one party. California & Florida are two states most candidates will fight for. California has 55 delegates and Florida has 27. For example, if California's population was 1001, 500 people voted republican, 501 voted democrat, all 55 of those delegates would go towards the democrats. This is an incredibly indirect election, which I think is unfair. A huge advantage for the party who wins the larger states.  Our country consists of over 300 million americans, and yet there are only 538 delegates to be circulated. Wouldn't you think it would be more fair if the delegates were distributed evenly among parties?

What I think everybody forgets is that the electoral college was originally set up because it was very difficult for people to vote in the country being that most people farmed, or indentured themselves to a master of their industry choice. The electoral college made it easier for the will of the people to be expressed by theoretically allowing the important issues to be considered, regardless of the size of the population. But I don't believe the Founding Fathers intended for that to be in use forever. I believe the Constituition was meant to change with the times. That is why we have the Amendment system. It could be repealed by 75% of the states.

The electorial college is outdated and flawed, popular vote is the only right option. The only election we participate in that is run this way is the presidential election all others elections are by popular vote. Why do you think that is. Kreg b. don't you think people of all parties live in the states you mentioned and don't you think that they would vote for themselves and not their neighbor.

The founding fathers were correct in establishing the electorial college. If eleminated, then there is no need for anyone to vote, unless you live in New York, Florida, Texas, or California. Read the constitution, it preserves the vote of all people through the electorial college. For those who disagree....stupid is as stupid does.

I AM APPALED THAT WE HAVE AN ELECTORAL COLLEGE WHICH VOTES !! WE DO NOT NEED THIS AT ALL !! USE THE PEOPLE'S VOTES. i KNOW SOME THAT WON'T VOTE BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT IS, NOW. PLEASE CHANGE IT !!

the only fair vote is the actual vote of the people.

The common citizen is still not informed enough. Keep the college in place.

Most Americans do not understand the voting process. It is really a complicated one. Why should it be complicated to understand. When you vote your vote should count for the person you voted for and not a delegate to decide the outcome. It is time for us to fight for a new voting system.

I agree that it should be changed, however I feel like they should make every vote count instead of having an electoral vote it should be each individual vote. Maybe that way more people will vote. And it will be fair.

Thank you! Yes, EVERY vote SHOULD count....that's what a democracy is supposedly about . It shouldn't matter how many delegates a state has at all. Popular votes could be evened out by another state, and it would be a much more exciting race to watch.
