Description:

The United Nations Development Fund for Women estimates that at least one of every three women globally will be beaten, raped, or otherwise abused during her lifetime.

Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation, a public health epidemic and a barrier to solving global challenges such as extreme poverty, HIV/AIDS and conflict. It devastates the lives of millions of women and girls--- in peacetime and in conflict --- and knows no national or cultural barriers. Most importantly, it must end.

The International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA), if passed, would consistently incorporate solutions for reducing violence against women into U.S. foreign assistance programs.

Forum Discussion for Combat Global Violence against Women

All women have the basic human right to self-determination without interference or intimidation. Violence whether its a Religious rite, or takes the physical form is wrong it should be elevated to a crime against humanity, and the European Court of Justice should step in regardless of who's shoes we stand on. A crime is a crime regardless.

I feel that no women should be abuse in any form or manner, it is a crime which the abuser no matter what country they are from needs to be punished. Their need to be strong international laws against abusers no matter what country they are from.

I believe in your petition and am willing to sign.

Why would we choose to turn a blind eye to the HORRIFYING reality that affects 1 out of EVERY 3 WOMEN IN THE WORLD, at some point in their lives?!?!
I could go on for hours and teach a seminar on the sociological/ philosophical/ psychological and cultural, even economic contributors of domestic violence and what type of reprocutions it has on those same planes. This problem is THAT complex and mabye that is why we shy away from it because its too demanding of our attention and comprehension to mess with, its too upsetting. But I'm going to be blunt (and I am talking to the attitude that we all seme to have in one way or another these days) : We need to quit being so danm sedentary and comfortable to the point that we dont realize that women are being tortured, raped and abused in their own homes. Their spirit, dreams and will are being CRUSHED to the point that they themselves end up believing that somehow that must be what they deserve and that it is THEIR PLACE as A WOMAN to ENDURE that type of suffering. Can you see how twisted and demented the psychological damage from domestic violence can be????
That petiotion that I talked about ONLY HAS 14 SIGNATURES! And petitions for keeping tv shows alive or making different characters in TV shows hook up, have tens of thousands of VOTES?! WHAT THE *&$%%&# IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE???

What does that say about the frivilous society that we live in when fictional characters steal away more of our concern and passion than the violation of women's and GIRL's HUMAN RIGHTS which happen on A DAILY BASIS!
I IMPLORE YOU... take a few seconds to be socially responsable and go sign the petition.
Thank you.

Under no circumstance should a man EVER hit or otherwise abuse a woman. Period.

violence against women is the worst crime ever...we have seen U.S soldiers rape iragi women in their own homes...we have seen amoral men raping women during Hurricane katrina even in their refugee camps...we have seen men abusing their own wives in india, the harsh laws against women in the gulf countries...and this must stop...if there is any ounce of humanity left in the youth today we must support this cause and make the world a safer place for women who are the backbone of every society!!!!!

I agree with you 100%,I was raped by a relative, when I was 31 he got away with it, because it was his word against mine, I fought him off, pushed ,shoved ,I even stood up to him I fought with him ,so he wouldn't get my clothes off he ripped them off anyway,so you see the police couldn't help me ,that doesn't mean ,Man has the right to put his hands on you , no is no, no matter what!
